Penguins Gameday 1/11/10 - The Long Road Ahead

Tonight your Pittsburgh Penguins continue their five game road trip by heading into Minnesota to play the Wild. The Wild are lead by a new coach Todd Richards this season who is peeling off the defensive shell and starting to open up Minnesota's offense. Thank goodness for that, because I would probably be fighting off sleep watching another game versus the trap.

This afternoon the Penguins recalled defense man (Rev.) Ben Lovejoy from Wilkes-Barre baby Pens of the AHL. Lovejoy had one assist and was a +1 with two shots. In Saturday's game he was a +1 with five shots. He's having another solid season here in WBS. Remember to follow the baby Pens right here at PensUniverse with our newest addition Ali Meyers live in Wilkes-Barre.

The call up is in response to the undisclosed injury Brooks Orpik suffered in the 4-1 victory over Toronto on Friday night. No word at this time as to what the injury is to Orpik he is listed day to day at this time. Currently their is a rumor going on through twitter of a possible injury to Marc-Andre Fleury but no word from the Pens and John Curry has not be recalled.

Here are the highlights from the last meeting and the PensUniverse recap here:

Also the projected lines from the Penguins website:

Looking at the Wild's website it looks as if former Penguin Petr Sykora will not be in the line-up. Its kind of disappointing not to see Petr tonight, you would think the Wild would give him the chance to play vs. his former team like the Penguins do so often. Minnesota's attention to fan favorite Marek “Killer” Zidlicky, who dropped the gloves with Crosby the last time these teams faced each other. Neither player is known for his fighting but Sid won't hesitate to mix it up once again tonight. Sid also gives us our quote of the night about Zidlicky.

On a rematch with Zidlicky.
You probably won't see that happen. It was a rare occurrence for both guys. You never know. That's something that has only happened a few times for me. I don't know how many times for him. I wouldn't hold your breath.
