PREGAME - 3.13.2010 - NEW JERSEY DEVILS

7:00pm - Prudential Center

Greetings from New Jersey.

As your on-the spot correspondent for Pens Universe (and my own twisted mind), it's a rainy day in Newark where the Pens take on the New Jersey Devils.

The Pens are recovering from the Brodeur like experience last night against the Carolina Hurricanes. (See 2009 Playoffs - Round 1). The boys look to rebound on their 2nd night of their 5 game road trip.

There is no excuse as to what happened last night. Once the 'Canes got started it was like a Toyota Prius on a California highway.

Totally out of control.

Like a redundant politician on the campaign trail, I say that the Pens D needs to step up and claim some responsibility. Being mobile and puck moving is one thing, but where is the stay-at-home-ness that stops the puck from entering the Defensive Zone?

Agree? Disagree?

Talk amongst yourself....

As for me? I'm so happy that I could pitch a tent..
I tried to pitch a tent, but New Jersey wouldn't let me.

THINGS YOU WANTED TO KNOW BUT WERE TOO LAZY TO LOOK UP:
  • Uncle Daddy is 4-0 versus Pittsburgh in 2009-10, stopping 124 of the 126 shots thrown his way.
  • The Pens are 21st on the Power Play
  • The Devils are 12th
  • The Pens are 10th on the Penalty Kill
  • The Devils are 17th
  • Today, I ran into the following people:
Phil Bourque
Dan Potash
Coach Disco
Asst Coat YoeMustGoe
Asst Coach Tony "Dr. Evil" Granato
Make Cooke
Alex the Poni

WHAT WHISTLER THINKS IS IMPORTANT TO THIS GAME:

  1. Which Fleury will we see tonight? The calm, cool Fleury or the one that has been VERY shaky since his brief stint tasting the Olympic nachos.
  2. Help me decide what jersey I should wear to the game...
