NHL Is Really Bad At Keeping A Secret

Is there really anyone out there who didn't know Pittsburgh was going to host the 2012 Draft?

The worst kept secret in the NHL, it was announced Thursday the upcoming NHL Entry Draft will be held at the Consol Energy Center. What a surprise.

This has been openly talked about for nearly a year Pittsburgh would host the draft for the second time in franchise history. It was pretty much embarrassing Gary Bettman called a news conference for a "special announcement" when everyone already knew what he was going to say.

The league is really bad at keeping things under lock and key. Take the recent Winter Classic at Heinz Field for example. People had a hunch Pittsburgh would host it eventually, but when local television stations in Pittsburgh report NHL officials were at Heinz Field taking measurements on the turf it's tough to play dumb.

All I'm asking for is a little suspense now and then. David Morehouse on Thursday joked about convincing Bettman to give Pittsburgh the NHL All-Star Game soon too. I'm sure it's already in the works.

The only thing that remains a secret at this point is when 87 is returning.
