Lockout Blues? Cheer Up!

Back and forth, so go the negotiations. Have they really accomplished anything at this point? That's anyone's guess. One minute there's hope, the next they're miles apart. I said a month or so back on my twitter account, I just don't believe there is going to be a season this year. The good news is, I'm not a prophet. Nothing would make me happier than to be wrong about it.

So why exactly am I telling you to cheer up? Well, that's because you could possibly win something. I know, I know, this is a hockey blog. More importantly it's a Penguins blog. But while we're all playing the waiting game, why not win something in the meantime.

You're all aware that I'm participating in this program with Verizon and ComBlu whereby I'm testing out a phone for a bit. From the first (and only) comment I received on my initial post regarding the program, it seemed the reception wasn't going to be the best. But here's the good news: they're giving me a FREE (yes free) phone to give away to one of my faithful readers.

That phone? The MOTOROLA RAZR HD (pictured below) which has a full retail of $599.00. What's the catch? None. The only thing you need to is COMMENT BELOW with what you're favorite feature of the phone is (also listed below). Simple as that! What's more? I'm even going to give the winner a $50 Verizon gift card to buy accessories, or even pay your bill with. You got nothing to lose on this one.

A random winner will be selected on Friday, December 14th. If you have any questions, feel free to add them in the comments below, or feel free to email damian [at] pensuniverse.com.

GOOD LUCK!

The phone – the latest RAZR from Motorola – launched as the most compact 4.7-inch smartphone with a full-screen and edge-to-edge display and has a ton of great features, including:

· An 8-megapixel camera and HD display that makes movies, photos, magazines and websites appear with vibrant clarity.

· Circles Widget makes it easy to view battery life, text notifications, missed calls or weather updates, right on the home screen.

 · Near-field communications-enabled, so customers can use Android Beam to share contacts, documents and maps directly to compatible phones.

· A battery that allows for up to 32 hours of normal use and double the internal storage (of older RAZR phones) to 32 GB.

· Runs over 4G LTE, combined with Chrome for Android, meaning customers can enjoy blazing fast speeds that make downloading documents or surfing the Web a breeze.

 · Device is Global Ready, so calling home or sending emails is possible from more than 205 countries around the world.

I like the navigation of the new RAZR. Much better than the original Droid phone.

I like the battery life of the phone. I hate charging my phone troughout the day.

It's easily the battery life. I'm currently using the iPhone 4S and
no joke, I would have to charge it at least 5X to get that many hours of use. The thought of getting through the day without charging blows my mind.

The battery is tops in the industry......can go all day and blows every device outta the water

I went from having the HTC Thunderbolt to the RAZR M. The HTC was good for about 4 hours of above average use. The RAZR is good for a full 10 hours easy. Sick battery life. The HD has a 2530 mAH Li–Ion. That's gametime!

It sounds like the battery life is awesome! Have an iphone 4S and battery runs out all the time.

Chrome for Android is far and away the best mobile browser. It's not even close.

8-megapixel camera & HD screen! I just got back from Europe and took all my vacation photos on my phone. A great camera on a mobile phone is a necessary feature!

Has to be the battery life. for how much time I spend on a phone for work, that would be great.

I think that the HD Display would be my favorite feature... nothing like watching something in crisp HD in the palm of your hands!

Being NFC enabled with Android Beam is quite awesome. I love the new commercial when the husband is leaving and the wife gives him a few videos.

I cant just pick one of the features on this phone to choose. I love that it is in HD and has one of the best screen resolutions available. Also the battery life of up to 24 hours? That is just crazy. There are some many thing about this phone that i love, My mother has one and I have been trying to steal it for about a month now.!

The camera.. which sadly is better than my out-of-date digital camera!

ErinK said...

Would like to try a non-HTC phone... Battery life and LTE service have to be better than my current gear? Would be cool if it worked in Canada too.

Unknown said...

I'm liking the Near Field Communications feature. Nothing like making sharing content so much easier.

Eva Marie said...

I love the 8 megapixel camera. I use my phone as a camera a lot of time & finding a good quality camera phone is hard to come by!

Walter Corey said...

The 32 hours of battery life is awesome!

alisonmr said...

I really like the camera on the phone! It looks to be high quality, which, for a photographer like myself, thats pretty important! I want something that could keep up with my constant photo-shooting, whenever I can't lug around my DSLR, or take it some places (like a Penguins game! I've been asked to take my camera back to my car many times)

Unknown said...

I have the Razr M and it only has 8GB of storage. I really like the fact that the Razr HD has 32GB....I could live with that!!!!!

timmyh253 said...

You've got of love the battery, along with the styling. But my favorite Motorola feature has to be the MAP(Motorola Application Platform)formally known as MotoBlur, and their radios are among the best. the best feature specific to this phone, at least in my eyes has to be the screen 312ppi on a 4.7in screen may not be the best but much better than what I have now(Droid R2D2), Processor is much better than what I have too, Can't go wrong with Qualcomm CPUs'.

Unknown said...

Probably sounds like a broken record at this point, but the battery life is definitely the feature that stands out the most to me right now. When I work late hours or I'm traveling, I need to listen to Pens games via the Android app, and the battery life on this guy is perfect for that!

The battery life! So tired of my phone dying every day!

Battery Life.

Unknown said...

Speed and storage. As a music junkie, having enough space to store everything that I listen to is paramount, and the speed to access new material with youtube, pandora, etc. is critical as well. That and both make for a great phone.

Ryan Nicholson said...

I hear great things about 4G LTE.

Unknown said...

I like the longer battery life. Also, it has a better camera than my current phone.

Len said...

Size of the display and battery life.

The battery life is pretty beast. Also, the 8 mega pixel camera combined with the edge to edge display is great for snapping pics of the kids.

Gunther said...

The addition of Chrome is excellent, but it's the battery life that excites me.

Rick Guriel said...

I'd love to have a battery life like that. I'm sick and tired of the iPhone and ready for a Droid!

Unknown said...

And I have to add that the lockout sucks. In ATL it came in 3's. Lost Kovalchuk. Lost the Team. Then lost the NHL all together. smh

Ryan Lenocker said...

Pretty excited for the camera and better battery life

Love the long lasting battery life!!

Dan said...

I like the 4.7" screen. Great for viewing AHL games... and NHL if they EVER END THE LOCKOUT!

TJ Davis said...

My iPhone4 lasts about a full 8 hours of regular use. Any phone that can last 32 hours is legit. I want it.

The NFC thing does seem cool. Samsung has done a good job at piquing my interest with their commericals.

My DROID X gets the worst battery life. I can't even go half a day without needing a charge. So if you ask me, it has to be the battery life. I'm done with this one.

Unknown said...

I would have to say the battery looks like the best feature

Sean Montgomery said...

I'd say the camera quality would be my favorite feature. I'm a pro photographer, but I always say the best camera is the one you have with you, and sometimes I don't have my usual gear with me when I'm witnessing an incredible sunset. Would be great to be able to capture those scenes on the fly!
