Penguins Gameday - 11/19/09 - Getting Closer

Another day, another defenseman down for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Jay "THE KEY" McKee is now out 2-4 weeks with an infected finger. I never thought Ray Shero would have to set the Wheeling Nailers on speed-dial. So your six starting defensemen at the beginning of the season are all injured by mid November. Isn't it nice there is actually optimism heading into tonight's contest versus the Ottawa Senators?

Returning to the starting lineup for your Pens is power play leader Sergei Goncher and Stanley Cup hero Maxime Talbot! Let me first get this off my chest: "thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you." Alright I am okay. Its almost getting to the point of me starting to sing "All I want for Christmas is my defense back". No I will not be trying out for American Idol any time soon.

Those were the projected starting lineups from the Pittsburgh Penguins website, its was also noted that Mark Eaton did not skate in the morning warm ups and that defenseman Chris Lee was recalled from the baby Pens. (are we running out of numbers yet?)

I feel lucky I had a chance to come out here today,” Talbot said. “We just play hockey and you don’t realize how much influence you have on people. It is a great thing.”

Maxime Talbot on meeting long time fan Pat Celesnik, read the Sports Illustrated article here.
